It’s so true that it’s often the little things, the small acts of kindness that can make all the difference to a new mum. one that sticks in my mind and is something i’ll never forget is when i’d just had my second baby and one of the midwives came over to me, picked up my hairbrush and started to brush my hair, telling me with kindness that i really needed to look after myself too. i think by that point the oxytocin had taken a dip and her wonderfully compassionate words reduced me to tears.
It seems so obvious, but how many of us as parents, really take care of ourselves, our own health and our own needs. It’s the hardest thing in the world to ‘allow’ yourself to prioritise, but it’s so essential.
